Dale began his vocation as a woodwright in 1978 after searching for a career change. His dad suggested woodworking and Dale thought that sounded like a good idea. Dale’s first call was to a local Asheville cabinet company. The owner asked, “Can you drive a nail?” Dale answered yes and the owner took a chance.
Then in 1984 Dale and his wife, Leuretha, started The Woodwrigth’s Shop in Mars Hill, NC where he continues to produced top-notch custom cabinets and furniture for the Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee region. Forty-one years later Dale is a master woodwright.
Dale and Leuretha have two sons, two daughters-in-love, and 3 grandsons. Their oldest son Joel has worked in the shop for 11 years and has been taught the art of woodworking and continues to produce beautiful cabinets and furniture. The Woodwright’s Shop is Dale and Leuretha’s life work and they are thankful it is continuing through their family.
